You’ve selected your dating site, written a dynamic, attention getting profile and your account is getting filled with responses. Are you ready? Do you know how to quickly identify and weed out those who hold no future with you? Are you ready to keep that upbeat, sparkle of your profile to hold the interest of those you want to know better?
It’s really not that hard or scary. Almost all online dating site have a secure system where you go through them, in the beginning, to correspond with potential dates. Use it! It insures your safety and allows participants to be more open and honest.
As you begin to correspond with people, watch for superficial and shallow answers and questions that probe a little too much too soon, too personally. Some people just don’t know, so do not disregard them too soon, just have your radar up.
Emails that respond to your likes and dislikes in your profile in a general way, like “I enjoy sailing, too.”, but give no further information, need to be queried a bit more. Ask them where they sail, when was the last time they sailed, what kind of sailboat do they prefer to sail, and so forth. If they can’t come up with reasonable answers, they probably have never been on a sailboat and are shining you on!
But if they respond with enough detail to let you know they are for real, please be open and honest with them back. That’s the only way the two of you are going to get to know each other and move forward.

Beyond Internet Dating
A few years ago, researchers at the University of Melbourne conducted a study of over 60 online dating sites. The study said internet dating is proving a much more successful way to find long-term romance and friendship for thousands of people than was previously thought.
A study of online dating site members has found that when couples who had built up a significant relationship by e-mailing or chatting online met for the first time, 94 per cent went on to see each other again.
And, perhaps surprisingly, another study, also found that men were more emotionally dependent on their ‘e-partners’ than women, and more committed to the relationship..
But here’s the kicker…Old-fashioned romance isn’t dead, however: among the survey’s findings researchers found that exchanging gifts was the best way to ensure commitment in the relationship.
Now, you don’t want to start lavishing gifts on someone too soon (you’ll scare the begeebees out of them!) and you want to start with small, inexpensive or free gifts ONLY to someone you have already been building a strong connection to online!
